My name is Charity Miller (they/them/theirs), and I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist. I’m proudly and openly non-binary and queer, with a focus primarily on working with BIPOC folks of all genders and those in the LGBTQIA+ community. My approach to therapy is meeting the client where they are and forming a healthy and safe working relationship, as I believe the biggest catalyst for change is the therapeutic relationship. I believe therapy is not "one size fits all" and will use different techniques depending upon my client's needs. However, my focus is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. My areas of clinical focus are anxiety, women's issues, men's issues, anger management, behavioral health issues, issues related to parenting, LGBTQIA+ issues, as well as providing mental and emotional support to transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary folks as they start their journey in gender-affirming healthcare. My belief is if clients can be comfortable being themselves, they can and will open up in therapy. I strive to model the communication method that cultivates and supports safety in sessions, as this is my top priority. During the first session, I strive to build rapport with my clients. I enjoy having the chance to know the client outside of what they're bringing into the session as I believe seeing an entire picture of the client and who they are will aid in client change and continued progress. Overall, my desire is to help all marginalized people groups have access to quality mental health care and support as they navigate a trying and turbulent world.
